It is not logical to expect him to stand up for you in front of his parents or talk back to them or raise his voice or even anger them! 

He has only one father and one mother in this whole world while he can marry hundreds of other women who would make him happy and please him.

You need to either adapt with your situation or file for divorce and leave him, if he is unwilling to move out from just a joint family,
